Environmental Commitment
Our goals and progress with sustainability.
At Owens Motors, we are committed to minimising our environmental impact and contributing to a sustainable future. As a small, family-run business, we recognise the importance of preserving the environment for future generations while delivering safe, reliable, and efficient transport services.
Our biggest environmental challenge is reducing the carbon emissions from our fleet of diesel vehicles. To address this, we’ve taken steps to monitor our fuel usage closely and improve efficiency through regular vehicle maintenance, driver training in eco-friendly driving techniques, and route optimisation. We already have our first fully electric vehicle in operation and are also exploring opportunities to transition to greener alternatives (including HVO fuel) in the future as technology and infrastructure evolve.
Beyond fuel usage, we’ve already implemented other environmentally friendly practices. Our operations are powered by net-zero electricity, and we have a robust waste management system in place, managed by an external company to ensure all waste is recycled or disposed of responsibly. We also maintain clear communication with our partners, customers, and council representatives to keep everyone informed about our ongoing environmental initiatives.
Aligned with the council’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, we are continuously seeking ways to offset our emissions, including making contributions for offsetting. We believe that even small changes can make a big difference, and we are committed to doing our part to create a more sustainable future.
Our environmental journey is ongoing, and we invite collaboration with suppliers, partners, and customers to explore innovative solutions and share ideas. Together, we can take meaningful steps toward reducing our environmental footprint while maintaining the quality of service our customers expect.
